FAAconference.com Now Live with Speakers, Sponsors, and More
The official website for the in-person 2021 FAA Annual Conference & Trade Show is now live at FAAconference.com. The site includes details about sessions, speaker bios, and a link to register for the conference. A map of the sold-out trade show floor includes a full listing of exhibitors, which is color-coded to indicate medal-level sponsors. Visit the site now.
Meetings of the FAA Executive Committee, APAC Board of Directors, FAA Legislative Committee, and FAA Board of Directors will take place on Friday, May 21, at the Don CeSar Hotel in St. Pete Beach, Fla. Board and committee members should RSVP here to each meeting they plan to attend. There will also be a meeting of the FAA Florida Suppliers Council on Thursday, May 20 (see Supplier Updates section below).

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Issues Rule to Support Federal Eviction Moratorium
On April 19, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) issued a rule related to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s eviction moratorium, which was extended through June 30, 2021. The rule is designed to prevent what the administration has referred to as "illegal evictions" that have taken place despite the protections in the CDC order. Read more (member login required).
Local Rent Relief Tracker Available on FAA Website
The Florida Apartment Association has made available a spreadsheet tracking rent relief programs in municipalities and counties around the state. This tool is for member use only and should not be shared with residents or other nonmembers. FAA's Rent Relief Fund Tracker includes a list of cities and counties with populations above 200,000 that were eligible to request payments directly from the U.S. Treasury to establish emergency rental assistance programs. If your property is located in a city or county that is not included on this list, please stay tuned for more details about the State of Florida's rental assistance program in the coming weeks. As part of its commitment to keep members informed about issues that may affect you, your businesses, and your residents, the Florida Apartment Association is maintaining an online resource center regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Resources include:
  • Executive orders issued by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
  • FAQs, best practices, and sample letters you can use to comply with these orders.
  • Information regarding new federal programs, including the Families First Coronavirus Relief Act; and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
  • Local government activity in Florida related to COVID-19, such as court closures, suspensions of writs of possession, shelter-in-place orders, and curfews.
  • Links to government agencies and other resources.

An eviction moratorium interrupts the revenue needed to pay employee salaries, mortgages, property taxes, maintenance, and utilities. NAA has made available 45 market-specific reports outlining the financial impacts of the eviction moratorium. Read more.
Apartmentalize+: a Pre-Event Celebration
On June 16, NAA is hosting an afternoon of celebration and inspiration with keynote speaker Bill Rancic, a performance by Second City, and the NAA Excellence Awards Ceremony, recognizing the best and brightest in the rental housing industry. FSC Meeting, Education Seminar, Reception to Be May 20
The Florida Suppliers Council will meet at the Don CeSar Hotel in St. Pete Beach, Fla, on Thursday, May 20. The meeting will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will be followed by an education seminar, Thrive on Live: How to Reenter the LIve Exhibiting Arena Better than Ever Before, with Jefferson Davis of Competitive Edge, beginning at 3:45 p.m. View a flyer for more details about the education seminar.
