FAA Advocacy Results in Key Changes to the OUR Florida Program
Over the past several weeks, FAA has met with the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), which is administering the OUR Florida Program, to discuss the industry's concern with the application and fund distribution processes. FAA's advocacy resulted in key program changes such as:
-
Resident applications that do not have a matching landlord application may be eligible to receive a check directly. However going forward, this check will be made out to the landlord and not the resident to ensure the funds are used for their intended purpose.
- DCF has created strike teams to assist housing providers with 10 or more properties with their application process. This will ensure apartment owners and operators with 10 or more properties have access to a dedicated staff contact at OUR Florida to answer questions about the status of their applications. Housing providers will be contacted by OUR Florida when their strike team member is identified.
FAA will continue to remain engaged with DCF regarding the administration of the OUR Florida Program. If you have any questions regarding FAA's ongoing advocacy efforts or if you have feedback regarding the OUR Florida Program, please contact [email protected].

FAA Urges Rent Relief Distribution Instead of Moratoriums
|
|
On August 26, 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) ruled 6-3 to strike down the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) federal eviction moratorium (CDC Order). This important decision is not about pursuing evictions for all residents, but rather it restores the ability of housing providers to effectively manage their properties and recognizes that the CDC lacked the authority to impose an unfunded, federal housing mandate that disrupted court processes, housing operations and the rental housing stock nationwide.
