FAA Files Lawsuit to Fight Rent Control in Orange County
Last week, despite feedback from experts and professionals in the rental housing industry, the Orange County Commission voted to move a fundamentally flawed rent control measure to the general election ballot. In response to this violation of state law, on Monday, FAA filed a swift legal challenge alongside the Florida Realtors seeking to prevent Orange County's rent control measure from advancing to the November ballot
 
Throughout several workshops, FAA and even the county's own hired experts pointed out the realities of Florida law and the fact that Orange County's proposal failed to meet the high bar established under statute. It is unfortunate that a majority of the Orange County Commission disregarded the law and instead moved to place this measure on the ballot. The annual meeting of the membership of the Florida Apartment Association shall take place concurrently with the FAA Board of Directors Meeting on September 28 at 10 a.m. in the Atlantic Ballroom 3 at the Diplomat Beach Resort, 3555 S Ocean Drive, Hollywood, FL 33019. This notice is hereby given more than 30 days in advance of the meeting in compliance with FAA Bylaws Article VIII, Section 2, and Article XIV, Section 2.
 
The Board of Directors will elect officers to the FAA Executive Committee. The nominating committee will present the following slate:

Treasurer: Keri Walker Pfeifer (SEFAA)
Secretary: Jordan Petras (BAAA)
