Suppliers, Get Involved Through the FSC

Posted By: Heather Calderone FAA News,

The Florida Suppliers Council is the voice for the people and companies that provide the products and services the Florida apartment industry depends on. If your company is a supplier member (also known as associate member) of any of the Florida Apartment Association's nine locally affiliated associations then you are a member of FAA and the Florida Suppliers Council. Whether you're new to the industry or have some "seasoning" - the FSC provides an opportunity to get connected and engaged.

Attend Meetings and Events
  • The FSC meets three times a year, in conjunction with other FAA governance meetings. View details under the events tab, and be sure to register in advance. Engage in discussions, share your insights, and participate actively.
    • First quarter, in conjunction with Impact, formerly known as the FAA Legislative Conference in Tallahassee
    • Second quarter, in conjunction with spring/summer governance meetings; location varies
    • Third or fourth quarter, in conjunction with Inspire, formerly known as the FAA Annual Conference & Trade Show. Location varies.
  • All FAA members, including supplier/associate members, may also register and attend meetings of the FAA Board of Directors, APAC Board of Directors, and Legislative Committee.
  • Local affiliates also have a robust mix of meetings and events. You can find links to local affiliate websites by visiting faahq.org/local-affiliates.
Sponsor a Meeting or Event
  • Demonstrate your commitment to FAA and to the multifamily industry.
  • Gain exposure for your product or service. Possibilities vary, and may include logo placement or an opportunity to speak or provide marketing collateral to attendees. Find out more at faahq.org/products/marketing-opportunities or by visiting your local affiliate website
Grow Your Network
  • Take advantage of these opportunities to meet other supplier/associate members and then connect with them on social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, or Instagram.
Stretch Your Volunteer Muscles
  • Get to know the leadership team and staff at your local affiliate and ask them what their greatest needs are.
  • Watch for an FAA call for volunteers toward the end of the year and submit your volunteer application for a committee that will use your strengths.
Stay Informed
  • Be sure your member profile at faahq.org and your local affiliate website is up to date so that you will receive relevant communications.
  • Read the monthly Florida APTitudes e-newsletter (usually distributed on or about the third Wednesday of each month) to stay current on news and information about the FAA organization.
  • Read FAA's award-winning Multifamily Florida magazine each quarter to stay informed about issues that are relevant to the state's multifamily industry — and your clients and prospects.
Take It to the Next Level
  • The FAA Leadership Lyceum works to identify and develop leaders with a broad-based vision for, and commitment to the mission and strategic objectives of the Florida Apartment Association and its local associations.
  • Any FAA member may apply; candidates are selected by each local association.
  • Lyceum candidates are required to complete two in-person classroom modules and two virtual modules, as well as attend one FAA Board of Directors meeting, one FAA Legislative Committee meeting, Impact (formerly the FAA Legislative Conference), and Inspire (formerly the FAA Annual Conference).

Remember that patience and persistence are critical to your success with the FSC.  It's essential to be proactive, demonstrate your commitment, and continuously add value to the multifamily community.
