The Florida Apartment Association has awarded the 2021 Nan Cavarretta Scholarship to Amy Baker and Samantha Harvey, to enable them to participate in the FAA Leadership Lyceum program. The scholarship covers registration fees and travel expenses for the Leadership Lyceum, which is designed to educate and cultivate future leaders in local, state, and national apartment associations. The 2021 FAA Legislative Conference will take place virtually, as a live, interactive broadcast on Wednesday, February 3, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The broadcast will include a briefing on FAA's legislative priorities for 2021, as well as an opportunity for attendees to ask questions. The priorities are:
- Protect the Sadowski Affordable Housing Trust Fund and Rent Relief
- Establish COVID-19 Liability Protections for Housing Providers
- Permit Affordable Housing Tax Incentives
- Clarify Fire Radio System Requirements
Following the briefing and Q&A, attendees will break out into separate rooms to caucus with their affiliates regarding virtual meetings with legislators and legislative staff. The broadcast is complimentary to FAA members, but you must register by January 28 in order to receive a link to access the broadcast. Once you have registered, add the event to your calendar so you can easily access the broadcast on February 3.

The 2021 FAA winter governance meetings will take place virtually. All FAA members are welcome to attend any of the meetings except the Executive Council or Association Executives Council. As part of its commitment to keep members informed about issues that may affect you, your businesses, and your residents, the Florida Apartment Association is maintaining an online resource center regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Resources include:
- Executive orders issued by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
- FAQs, best practices, and sample letters you can use to comply with these orders.
- Information regarding new federal programs, including the Families First Coronavirus Relief Act; and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
- Local government activity in Florida related to COVID-19, such as court closures, suspensions of writs of possession, shelter-in-place orders, and curfews.
- Links to government agencies and other resources.
