FAA Prepares to Celebrate 50th Anniversary
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the Florida Apartment Association, and FAA staff are already planning how to celebrate the milestone. This photo featuring FAA suppliers showing off their spirit is just one of many blasts from the past we'll be sharing with you in the coming months. As part of its commitment to keep members informed about issues that may affect you, your businesses, and your residents, the Florida Apartment Association is maintaining an online resource center regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Resources include:
  • Executive orders issued by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
  • FAQs, best practices, and sample letters you can use to comply with these orders.
  • Information regarding new federal programs, including the Families First Coronavirus Relief Act; and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
  • Local government activity in Florida related to COVID-19, such as court closures, suspensions of writs of possession, shelter-in-place orders, and curfews.
  • Links to government agencies and other resources.

From the NAA
With the ongoing circumstances related to COVID-19, Apartmentalize in Dallas has been cancelled and will move to an entirely digital conference, APTvirtual. NAA has announced that this year's Apartmentalize will include a virtual component, APTvirtual. The in-person event will take place in conjunction with the Assembly of Delegates in Dallas, November 4-6. Learn more and register at www.naahq.org/apartmentalize
Four associations who serve the rental housing industry, with funding from leading property management software provider Yardi Systems (Yardi), are partnering to develop a comprehensive strategy to ensure the long-term success of the industry, both amid the COVID-19 pandemic and as the nation’s economy begins to recover. The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), National Apartment Association (NAA), National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) and National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM) are combining their collective resources in this effort. The National Apartment Association (NAA) has joined a lawsuit filed by the New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA), challenging the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) overreaching eviction moratorium order. The complaint, Richard Lee Brown, et al. v. Secretary Alex Azar, et al., includes several plaintiffs alongside NAA who have been directly and irreparably damaged by the CDC order and have faced significant economic damages. Read more.
