At the same time, supervisors are navigating a complex landscape of regulatory requirements and rapid technological change.
Learning objectives:
  • Learn actionable methods of leading successful maintenance operations at an apartment community.

  • Develop a framework to improve the Community Manager and Maintenance Supervisor relationship.

  • Understand the non-technical skills maintenance technicians and leaders need for continual career growth.

Building the Foundation for Change-Ready Leaders
Speaker: Jess Rodriguez, Jess Rod Consulting
About this session: In an industry where change is nonstop, leaders are expected to stay steady, make smart calls quickly, and guide their teams through uncertainty without burning out or losing trust. Before leaders can take their teams through change, they must understand how they personally respond when things shift. This session is designed to help property management leaders build awareness of their own patterns, reactions, and assumptions during change, especially in high-pressure, resident-facing environments. By understanding what’s happening internally, leaders are better equipped to model the behaviors that matter most in this industry: curiosity, empathy, collaboration, adaptability, and calm under pressure.

Learning objectives:

  • Identify personal reactions, triggers, and default leadership patterns during change in fast-paced environments.

  • Recognize how responses to uncertainty directly impact team morale, resident experience, and operational effectiveness.

  • Understand why leaders must model adaptability, trust, and openness before expecting those behaviors from on-site teams.

Panelist: Wendy Dorchester, Senior Vice President of Sales and Strategic Initiatives, Pegasus Residential
Panelist: Jamin Harkness, Partner and Chief Operating Officer, The Management Group, LLC
About this session: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently rocked the rental housing world when it withdrew its very own 2020 guidance on assistance animals. During this session, gain insights about what the recent federal regulatory means for operators and how they can stay in compliance.

Learning objectives:
