FAA Members Prepare to Promote Priorities in Tallahassee

Nearly 200 FAA members will travel to Tallahassee next week for the 2019 FAA Legislative Conference, to meet with legislators and staff and discuss four legislative priorities. 

FAA's 2019 legislative priorities are: 

1. Support Sadowski Affordable Housing Trust Fund and the passage of Senate Bill 70.

2. Support the passage of legislation to prohibit mandatory inclusionary zoning practices.

3. Support the passage of legislation to reduce emotional support animal fraud and abuse.

4. Support the passage of Senate Bill 144 to clarify the impact fee process.

Applications for New FAA Emerging Leaders Scholarship Due Next Week

Applications for the new FAA Emerging Leaders Scholarship are due by February 5, 2019.

The FAA Executive Committee and the FAA Board of Directors established the Emerging Leaders Scholarship to financially assist one recipient in attending the NAA Advocate Conference in Washington, D.C.The scholarship provides up to $1,500 in reimbursements of airfare and hotel expenses.

The Emerging Leaders Scholarship will be funded by a dedicated line item in the FAA budget and subject to the annual profitability of the association. The recipient will be selected by the FAA Past Presidents Council from all qualified applicants who submit an application by the deadline.

Applicants must submit an essay of 100-200 words explaining how they have actively participated in a local affiliate, FAA and/or NAA; their status as an FAA Leadership Lyceum student or graduate; and how they think the opportunity would benefit them as multifamily professionals.

FAA Research Report Offers Insight into Multifamily Wages in Florida

Twenty-eight companies representing 733 properties and 182,602 units took part in a 2018 study of compensation and benefits currently being paid to multifamily management and maintenance professionals across Florida. The survey sample represents 29 percent of Florida’s apartment industry.

 

The statewide 2018 Florida Apartment Association Compensation & Benefits Report was provided to the 28 participating companies at no cost. The statewide report and the 10 regional reports are available for $250 for members and $350 for nonmembers. Discounts on the regional reports are available to participating companies; all companies receive discounts on purchases of more than one report.
