Last Call for Nominations for Executive Committee, Hall of Fame

Nominations for the 2017-2018 FAA Executive Committee and for the 2017 FAA Hall of Fame close on Tuesday.

Executive Committee

Nominations are being accepted for: 

  • President
  • Vice president
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary

Criteria

Each nominee must be either an owner, a developer, a builder, or an operator with broad senior level experience in multifamily housing. Each nominee must be employed by a company that is an FAA member in good standing. Each nominee must acknowledge that election as a FAA officer carries with it a responsibility and must commit to attend all scheduled meetings.

Guidelines

The Nominating Committee will use the following guidelines in establishing a slate:

  • Candidate’s prior participation in FAA committees and/or their local affiliate.
  • Candidate’s recognized role:

A. FAA
B. Industry
C. Civic/Social

The nominating committee will interview potential candidates at the FAA headquarters in Orlando in August and then present a recommended slate at the meeting of the FAA board of directors held in conjunction with the Annual Conference & Trade Show October 11-13 at Disney's Contemporary Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Hall of Fame

Nominations are also open for inductees into the FAA Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame nominations are confidential (nominees are not notified) and require a letter stating the qualifications of your nominee. Inductees will be chosen by a Hall of Fame committee chaired by a past president of FAA.

Register Now for 2017 FAA Annual Conference & Trade Show

Leave the bug spray and tent at home, but don't forget to bring your energy and excitement to this year's FAA Annual Conference & Trade Show. Camp FAA is bringing the adventure to Disney's Contemporary Resort, October 11-13. Get ready to soak in the expertise and bond with 1,500 of your colleagues.

You'll get to gather 'round the keynote speakers, including a Disney Institute speaker who will share insights into Disney's service philosophy and how Disney principles can be adapted for the unique needs of any organization. The closing keynote speaker is Yvonne Camus, who proves to her listeners that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things because she did just that when she and her team successfully completed Discovery Channel's Eco Challenge adventure race. 

Sessions in between cover a range of topics from leasing to leadership, to updates on multifamily trends and legislative issues. Decide now how your troop will divvy up the sessions to cover the most ground.

Register online for the best price. Registrations will be accepted on-site at an additional cost. 

When you register online, be sure to log in to receive member pricing. You must have a profile on FAA's new website in order to log in as a member. 


P.S. Raise a glass and help raise funds to support FAA's legislative advocacy efforts at Food, Wine, & Fireworks, An APAC Celebration at Epcot, October 11 at 8 p.m. When you register for the conference, you may purchase tickets for the celebration, as well as for a wine tasting to raise money for the Nan Cavarretta Memorial Scholarship Fund. 

Get Your Ticket While You Can to Celebrate APAC with Food, Wine, Fireworks

Kick off the 2017 FAA Annual Conference & Trade Show in style by attending Food, Wine, and Fireworks, an APAC Celebration at Epcot, sponsored in part by PPG Paints and RentPath. Tickets include private transportation to Epcot and an evening of drinks, desserts, and a breathtaking viewing spot for Disney's "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth" fireworks spectacular.

The celebration begins at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, and benefits the advocacy efforts of FAA's Apartment Political Action Committee. You can purchase your ticket online now. Tickets may also be purchased with your full conference registration.
 
This event is expected to sell out well in advance of the conference. Tickets are $195 and fewer than 100 tickets remain. Those purchasing ticket bundles will receive one complimentary ticket for every 10 purchased. Please email Courtney@faahq.org with any questions.
 

Create a Profile and Log-in at FAA's New and Improved Website

FAA's website has a brand new look and updated technology in an effort to better serve all our members.

In order to get the most out of your member experience, you will need to create a new login. With your login, you will be able to:

  • Register for events and classes.
  • Update your profile information to include a photo, bio, and other marketing details.
  • Track event attendance.
  • View and pay company invoices (for company management users).
  • and more!

In order to create your new login, please complete the steps below. 

If your company is already a member of a local affiliate:

  • Click "Join" in the top right corner of the homepage.
  • Choose "Create An Account."
  • Agree to the terms and conditions.
  • Enter your email and select a password.

Note: You also have the option to log in via your Facebook or Google Account. This does not allow us to log in to your social networks!

 If your company is ready to join a local affiliate:

We are excited to have you as a new member! If you are an employee of an apartment community, management company, or supplier company that is NOT currently a member, we invite you to join one of our 11 local affiliates across the state of Florida. Joining a local affiliate automatically includes membership in FAA and in the National Apartment Association (NAA). To get started:

  • Click "Join" in the top right corner.
  • Choose "Become a Member."
  • On the map, click on your local affiliate to join.

Last call for PSC Officer Nominations

Would you or someone you know like to run for a leadership role on the FAA Product/Service Council?

Nominations are open until Tuesday for the 2017-2018 term for: 

  • Chairman (also serves as associates' vice president on the FAA executive committee)
  • Vice chairman
  • Secretary

Download a PSC nomination form to nominate yourself or another supplier for a 2017-2018 PSC leadership position. 

Last year, the PSC and the FAA board of directors approved a new PSC structure that expands opportunities for all suppliers as well as more effectively connects multifamily communities and management companies with the suppliers they need to do business with. Read more in the May 2016 Florida APTitudes. 

Stand Out with an Enhanced Business Listing

A more robust and comprehensive supplier directory has replaced the old PSC Buyers Guide, which in many cases only included one company under a specific category. In the new digital directory, every supplier member will be offered a basic listing with contact information and will have the opportunity to purchase an enhanced listing for $250. The enhanced listing will include premium placement, a company description, contact information, a link to your website, and social media feeds.

The supplier directory is just one of the many new features on the recently launched FAA website. To get the most out of the website, you will need to create an account (see related article in this issue).
